Knowing why candidates leave your hiring process helps you fix the right things, whether that's a job ad that attracts the wrong people, a source that sends low-quality applicants, or a stage where too many candidates drop out. The Disqualifications board brings this data together in one place, so you can spot patterns and act on them.
This article explains how to add the board and what each report on it shows.
Tip: We recommend that recruitment leads and recruiters check this board once a month to get an overview of disqualifications across all jobs.
Add the Disqualifications board
The Disqualifications board is a ready-made board template. Add it to your reports in a few clicks:
Go to Reports.
Open the board templates library.
In the list of templates, select Disqualifications.
To preview the board with your own data instead of sample data, turn on Show my real data.
Click Use template.
The board is added to your reports. You can then edit, move, or remove any report on it to fit your needs.
Key data
The top row of the board shows three key numbers. By default, they cover the last 7 days:
Disqualifications: the total number of disqualified candidates.
Time to disqualify: the average time between a candidate applying and being disqualified.
Auto disqualifications: the number of candidates who were disqualified automatically, rather than by a team member. This is part of the total in Disqualifications.
Note: Auto disqualifications includes candidates disqualified by knockout questions and by automations. Candidates disqualified by a team member aren't counted here.
Advanced reports
Below the key data, five reports help you dig deeper. By default, they cover the last 30 days.
Disqualifications over time
A line chart that shows the number of disqualified candidates per day. Use it to see the overall trend and spot sudden peaks, for example, after publishing a new job.
Disqualifications per stage type
A pie chart that shows how many candidates were disqualified in each stage type, such as Phone screen, Interview, or Offer. Use it to see where in the process most disqualifications happen. This report only includes candidates in jobs, not talent pools.
Note: This report is based on stage types. Candidates in stages that don't have a stage type aren't counted. To learn how to set stage types, see Connect your pipeline stages to reports.
Drop-off rate per stage type
A table that shows, for each stage type, how many candidates entered the stage, how many were disqualified there, and what percentage that is. Use it to find the stages where you lose the largest share of candidates.
This report is based on the date candidates applied, not the date they were disqualified.
Tip: Compare this report with the proceed rate per stage type to see the full picture: how many candidates move forward from each stage, and how many drop out.
Disqualification reasons overview
A bar chart that shows how often each disqualify reason was used, from most to least used. Use it to understand why your team disqualifies candidates.
Disqualifications per source
A bar chart that shows the number of disqualified candidates per source, from most to least. Use it to compare the quality of candidates from each source.
Find out why candidates are disqualified
A recruitment lead opens the Disqualifications board at the start of each month. They notice that Auto disqualifications makes up most of the total and that Disqualifications per source shows a spike from one job board. After checking the knockout questions on the jobs posted there, they rewrite one question that was screening out qualified candidates. The next month, auto disqualifications from that source drop.
