Board templates give you a good starting point, but every team tracks different numbers. With custom boards, you can bring together the reports you need in one place — for example, your open jobs, time to hire, and top sources — and filter them all at once.
This article explains how to create a board, add reports to it, and manage it.
Note: Custom boards are available on our Advance and Optimize plans. To create and edit boards, you need the Manage report dashboards permission. To download reports and boards, you also need the Export data permission.
Create a new board
Start with an empty board and add only the reports you need:
Go to Analytics.
At the bottom of the left sidebar, click Add new.
In the Board templates window, click Add empty board.
Your new board is called New board, and by default only you can see it. To rename it and share it with your team, see Manage your board.
Tip: If one of the board templates is close to what you need, select it and click Use template instead. You can then add, edit, or remove reports to make it your own.
Add reports to your board
Add reports from the reports library, which contains ready-made reports grouped by topic:
Open your board and click Add report.
Select one or more reports.
Click Add report to board. If you selected several reports, the button shows how many, for example, Add 3 reports to board.
If you can't find the report you need, click Create a custom report to build one from scratch. To learn how, see Create a custom report from scratch.
Arrange the reports on your board
Once you've added a few reports, change their layout to fit the way you work:
Move a report: click and drag the report to a new position on the board.
Resize a report: click and drag the bottom-right corner of the report.
Reorder your boards: in the left sidebar, drag a board up or down the list.
Manage your board
Rename your board
Click the pencil icon next to the board name in the top-left corner.
Enter a new name. You can also choose an icon for the board.
Click Save.
Choose who can see your board
Click the visibility button on the right, above your reports, and choose one of these options:
Everyone: all team members can see the board.
Selected members: only the team members and hiring roles you choose can see the board.
Only me: only you can see the board.
Duplicate or delete your board
Click the three dots (⋯) in the top-right corner.
Select Duplicate board or Delete board.
Important: Deleting a board is permanent — you can't undo this action.
Download your board
Click the three dots (⋯) in the top-right corner.
Select Export.
Choose PNG, CSV, XLSX (Excel), or PDF.
Filter your whole board
Filter all the reports on your board at once, so you can focus on a specific period, team, or job.
Filter by date
Click Select date in the top-left corner, above your reports.
Choose a period, for example, Last 30 days or This quarter. To set your own start and end dates, choose Custom.
Filter by job, team, or hiring role
Click Add filter.
Choose what to filter by: Department, Hiring manager, Job, Recruiter, or Talent pool.
Select the values you want to see.
To remove all board filters, click Clear filters.
Note: A board filter replaces any filter of the same kind that's saved on an individual report. For example, if a report is set to show one department and you filter the board by another department, the report shows the department from the board filter.
Note: Not every report supports every filter. If a report can't use a filter, it ignores it and shows its data without that filter.
Work with individual reports
Each report on your board has its own menu. Click the three dots (⋯) on a report to:
Edit the report, for example, to change its title, data, or filters.
Open the report in Fullscreen.
Export the report as PNG, CSV, XLSX (Excel), or PDF.
Duplicate the report on the same board.
Move to another board. This option is only available if you have more than one board.
Delete the report from the board. This can't be undone.
Build a weekly hiring dashboard
A head of recruitment wants a single view to check every Monday. They create an empty board called “Weekly hiring,” add reports on open jobs, new candidates, time to hire, and sources from the reports library, and resize the sources report so it spans the full width. They set the board to Selected members and add the two recruiting leads. Each Monday, they set the date filter to Last week and, when they want to check one team, add a Department filter.
