Have your employees and social networks refer candidates to you

There are two options to receive candidates from referrals in your Recruitee account:

Option 1 – Candidates apply via a custom URL that tracks a referrer's name

1. Click "Jobs" on the left menu > Select the job where you want to receive referred candidates.

2. Click "Share" in the top right corner.

3. Under "Job's link", click "Copy" > Paste the job's link to a text editor.

For example, you will get "company.recruitee.com/o/job"

4. Add "?source=referrername" at the end of the job's link to create a custom job link.

You will need to make a custom job link for each referrer.

For example, "company.recruitee.com/o/job?source=johndoe" is the custom job link for the referrer called John Doe.

NOTE:

  • You can add space to the custom job link (company.recruitee.com/o/job?source=john doe) and use capital letters (company.recruitee.com/o/job?source=JohnDoe).

  • Be consistent with naming your referrer in each job link. Because the source tags are case sensitive, "johndoe" and "John Doe" will be counted as two separate tags. You will need to manually merge them later. Read more: Manage tags and Source tags.

5. Give the custom job links to the corresponding referrers so that they can share it with potential candidates.

6. When a candidate completes the application form via a custom job link, their profile in Recruitee will have the referrer's name tracked as a source tag and the application status.

For example, a candidate completes an application via the custom job link "company.recruitee.com/o/job?source=johndoe". The candidate profile created has "johndoe" saved as a source tag and "Applied via johndoe" as the application status.

Option 2 – Referrers send CVs to an email address that will automatically parse the CVs into candidate profiles in Recruitee

1. Click "Jobs" on the left menu > Select the job where you want to receive referred candidates.

2. Click "Share" in the top right corner.

3. Under "Import candidates by sending CVs to..", click "Copy". This is the email address of the job inbox.

4. Give the email address of the job inbox to the referrers.

5. When a referrer sends a CV to a job inbox, Recruitee will automatically parse the CV into a candidate profile and put it in the job's pipeline.

NOTE:

  • Always attach one real CV in PDF format per email sent to a job inbox. This is the best way to make sure that the system parses the CV correctly and converts it into a candidate profile in Recruitee. If by any chance the CV isn't parsed, you can find the forwarded email with the CV attached in the "Non-candidates" folder. You can convert it to a candidate profile anytime.

  • If you attach more than one CV to an email sent to a job inbox, Recruitee will randomly pick and parse only one CV, leaving the rest not parsed.

  • Always write a subject line for the email sent to a job inbox.

  • You can't add a source tag to the candidate profiles using this method. You need to do it manually after the candidate profiles have been created. Read more: Edit candidate profiles.
