Your careers site lives at a Tellent Recruitee web address made up of your subdomain and our domain — for example, acme.recruitee.com. You can manage your careers site’s address and search visibility from one settings page.
There are two ways to personalize the address itself: change the subdomain in front of .recruitee.com, or point your own domain at your careers site. This article covers the subdomain and the indexing setting. For your own domain, see Use a custom domain for your careers site.
Note: You need the Manage company permission to open these settings.
Find your careers site’s web address
Go to Settings > General > Company settings > Careers site.
Your current address is shown under Subdomain, as yoursubdomain.recruitee.com.
Underneath it you’ll find your custom domain, if you use one, and the Careers site indexing toggle.
Change your subdomain
Subdomain changes are handled by our Support team rather than from the settings page — it’s a change that affects your live careers site, your redirects, and the email addresses your jobs receive applications on, so we make it together with you.
Go to Settings > General > Company settings > Careers site.
Click Edit next to Subdomain.
In the Set an address for your careers site dialog, find Need to update your subdomain? and click Get in touch.
A chat opens so that you can get in touch with our Support team and let them know what subdomain you'd like.
Click Close when you’re done.
Once we make the change, your careers site’s URL updates immediately and your old address starts redirecting visitors to the new one.
Tip: Have a second choice ready. Subdomains are unique across every Tellent Recruitee account, so your first pick may already be in use.
Note: A subdomain can only contain lowercase letters (a–z) and numbers (0–9) — no spaces, hyphens, underscores, or capitals. A small set of names is reserved for Tellent Recruitee’s own services and can’t be used.
What a subdomain change affects
Changing your subdomain changes more than the link candidates click:
Your careers site URL changes straight away, and the old one redirects.
Your job email addresses change because they include your subdomain. Emails sent to the old job addresses continue to arrive only while the old subdomain remains in Previously created subdomains. Deleting it stops that delivery (see below).
Links you’ve already shared — in job board posts, campaigns, or your own marketing site — keep working through the redirect, but it’s worth updating the ones you control.
Note: If you use a custom domain, visitors who land on an old subdomain are forwarded on to your custom domain rather than stopping at the Tellent Recruitee address.
Previously created subdomains
Every subdomain you’ve used in the past is kept and redirects visitors to your current careers site. That’s also why a subdomain someone has used before can’t be picked up by another Tellent Recruitee account.
You’ll find the list in the same place as your current address:
Go to Settings > General > Company settings > Careers site.
Click Edit next to Subdomain.
Scroll to Previously created subdomains.
Each entry shows the full old address and the date it was created. The list loads a few at a time — scroll inside it to see the rest.
Note: You’ll only see this section if your careers site has had more than one subdomain. On an account that has never changed its subdomain, there’s nothing to show.
Delete an old subdomain
Delete an old subdomain when you want to release it — for example, so you can use it on a different company account.
Click the delete (bin) icon next to the subdomain.
Read the Delete subdomain “old.recruitee.com”? dialog, then click Delete anyway.
A toast confirms Subdomain deleted, and the entry disappears from the list.
Important: Deleting an old subdomain removes its redirect, so any link still pointing at it will stop working. It also stops email sent to that subdomain’s job addresses from reaching Tellent Recruitee. Before you delete one, make sure it isn’t still linked from anywhere you care about.
Control whether search engines index your careers site
Indexing decides whether search engines like Google are allowed to list your careers site and its jobs in their results. It’s on by default.
Go to Settings > General > Company settings > Careers site.
Find Careers site indexing and use the toggle to turn it on or off.
The change saves as soon as you click it.
Turning indexing off asks search engines not to list any page on your careers site, and removes your sitemap from the instructions they read. Turning it back on allows them again — but search engines have to come back and recrawl your site before it reappears in results, so it isn’t instant either way.
Note: Jobs and pages you’ve set to internal are kept out of search results whether or not this toggle is on. Indexing is a site-wide setting on top of that.
Important: Turning indexing off is a request, not a block. Search engines that read these instructions will respect them, but it doesn’t make your careers site private — anyone with the link can still open it.
Tip: If your goal is to keep your jobs off particular job boards rather than out of search results altogether, indexing isn’t the setting you want. See Keep your jobs off job boards you didn’t choose.
Make sure Google is indexing your careers site
If your jobs aren’t showing up in search results, work through these in order.
Check that indexing is on. Settings > Company settings > Careers site — "Careers site indexing" needs to be toggled on.
Link to your careers site from somewhere Google already visits. All a search engine needs is to find a link to any page on your site. Most teams link to their careers site from their marketing website, and Google can index the whole site starting from that one link.
Give it time. Search engines crawl on their own schedule, so a new or newly re-enabled site won’t appear straight away.
Tip: You can submit your careers site to Google yourself in Google Search Console, but you don’t have to — Google crawls the web continuously and will find your site through the link.
