Set up job alerts on your careers site

Let visitors subscribe to email alerts for new jobs, so the right candidates hear about a role the day it goes live.

Most people who visit your careers site aren't ready to apply yet — and once they leave, you have no way to reach them. Job alerts turn those visitors into an audience: they pick the kind of roles they care about, and Recruitee emails them automatically whenever a matching job goes live.

Note: Job alerts are available on the Advance and Optimize plans. You need permission to edit the careers site to turn the feature on.

How job alerts work

Job alerts are email notifications about new jobs, sent to anyone who signs up on your careers site.

Subscribers choose:

  • What they want to hear about — location, department, language and work model (on-site, remote, or hybrid).

  • How oftenASAP (checked every 3 hours, so a maximum 3-hour delay) or Weekly (once a week, starting a week after they subscribe).

From there it runs itself:

1. A visitor subscribes. They fill in the signup form in the job alert section on your careers site and confirm their email address.

2. You publish a job. A new job goes live on your careers site.

3. Matching subscribers get an email. Anyone whose preferences match the new job receives an alert at their chosen frequency.

Note: Only new jobs trigger alerts. Editing or reposting an existing job doesn't send anything.

Tip: Fill in each job's location, department, and work model carefully. Those three fields are what subscribers filter on — a job missing a department won't reach people who subscribed to that department.

Turn on job alerts

1. Click CareersHub in the top-left corner of Recruitee.

2. Go to the Settings tab and open Job alerts.

3. Enable the feature.

4. Choose which pages should show the Job alert section, and adjust its layout.

5. Set up the signup form and the layout of the alert emails.

Tip: You can also add a job alert section to any individual page: open the page editor, hover between two sections, click Add section, and pick Job alert from the section library. A good spot is the bottom of your job details page — right where someone decides a role isn't quite right for them.

Manage your subscribers

Open Job alerts in the CareersHub and go to the Audience tab to see the audience overview and manually unsubscribe them if needed.

Subscribers can also opt out themselves at any time by clicking Unsubscribe at the bottom of any alert email.

FAQs

Will subscribers hear about every job?

No. They only get alerts for new jobs that match the preferences they picked when subscribing. Updates to existing jobs don't trigger alerts.

What if someone doesn't confirm their email?

Unconfirmed signups expire after 24 hours. The person needs to sign up again.

Can subscribers change their preferences?

Not directly — they sign up again with new preferences, which replaces their previous subscription.

Can I turn job alerts off again?

Yes. Disable the feature in CareersHub > Settings > Job alerts. The signup section stops appearing on your careers site.
