Create and manage customized message templates

Learn how to create customized message templates with placeholders, media, and buttons in Meta Business Manager.

Updated over a week ago

Pre-approved message templates can be used to send customized WhatsApp messages, especially outside the standard 24-hour response window.

These templates are required for automated messaging and are especially useful when re-engaging applicants after periods of inactivity.

Basic message templates can be created directly in WhatsApp Hiring (formerly FunnelBridge), but customized message templates that include placeholders, buttons, and media elements need to be created in Meta Business Manager.

Important:

If you’re using a test number we provided, creating complex templates in Meta is not possible.

1. Access Meta Business Manager

In FunnelBridge, navigate to Settings > Message templates and click Go to Meta Business Manager. You will be redirected to your Meta Business Manager account.

2. Create or edit a template

Click Create template to start a new one, or choose an existing template to edit.

3. Select the template type

Choose the type of message you want to create. We recommend selecting Utility as the category for most hiring-related messages. Click Next to start editing the message template.

4. Configure template details

Here’s how to build your template:

  • Name and language: Provide a clear name and select the appropriate language for the message.

  • Header (optional): Add a title or choose a media type (image, video, or document) to display as the message header.

  • Body text:

Write the content of your message. You can:

    • Use formatted text (bold, italics)

    • Insert emojis

    • Add placeholders by inserting variables, which will be mapped in FunnelBridge when automating messages.

  • Footer (optional): Include a brief line of text that appears below the message.

  • Buttons (optional): Choose buttons from the drop-down menu that allow applicants to respond to your message or take a specific action.

    • Call-to-Action buttons (max 2):

      • Call a phone number or

      • Go to a website (choose between Static or Dynamic URLs).
Dynamic links let you personalize URLs by adding variables at the end, directing each applicant to their specific information on your website.

    • Quick reply buttons (max 3):

      • Allow applicants to respond instantly by choosing one of the provided options.

5. Submit for approval

Once you’re satisfied with your template, submit it for review by Meta.

  • You can track the approval status under Message templates.

  • When approved, the status will be updated, and the template will become available in FunnelBridge.

  • When rejected, you can revise the content and resubmit the template for approval.
