Set up WhatsApp Hiring (formerly FunnelBridge) for first-time use

Here’s how to connect WhatsApp Hiring to your Tellent Recruitee account and WhatsApp number for the first time.

To start using WhatsApp Hiring (formerly FunnelBridge), you’ll need to connect it to your Tellent Recruitee account and a WhatsApp phone number (via WhatsApp Cloud API). You only need to do this once.

You can use one of our test phone numbers during your trial or link your own.

Before you start

You’ll need:

✅ Access rights in Tellent Recruitee to create API tokens and access webhooks.

✅ Optional: A WhatsApp-compatible phone number (not already in use) and a Facebook/Meta account.

1. Generate and store a Recruitee API token

Click “Start setup” in the setup wizard. You’ll be asked for your Recruitee company ID and an API token.

To create your token:

  1. In Tellent Recruitee, go to Settings > Apps and plugins > Personal API tokens.

  2. Click + New token at the top right.

  3. Create your token (e.g., FunnelBridge Messaging).

  4. Check your email for a verification code, and enter it to activate the token.

  5. Copy your company ID and API token and paste them into the setup wizard.

2. Add your privacy policy

Once your API token is added, the setup wizard will automatically connect to your Recruitee careers site and check for a stored privacy policy.

If you haven’t added one, you can enter a different URL now. Your applicants will need to accept this policy when they begin a WhatsApp chat.

3. Add your Recruitee webhook secret

You’ll now be asked to enter your Recruitee webhook client key.

You can find it under Recruitee > Settings > Webhooks.

4. Select a phone number

Next, choose the number you want to use.


You can use one of our 🇩🇪 German or 🇳🇱 Dutch test numbers (usable globally) or connect your own number.

5. Select your default message template

If you’re testing FunnelBridge Messaging, you’ll be prompted to set a default message template.

We’ve already created one for you. You can customize it now or update it later. Once Meta approves the template (usually takes 1 minute), you can continue with the setup.

6. Install the browser extension

To send WhatsApp messages directly from Tellent Recruitee, install the FunnelBridge browser extension (available for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Once installed:

  1. Click the blue button in the setup wizard to generate a token.

  2. Paste that token into the extension.

  3. Click Continue to complete the setup.

You can now start reaching candidates on WhatsApp.
