Create a consistent way for your team to evaluate candidates. When everyone uses the same scale, candidate scores are easier to interpret, helping your team make better hiring decisions together.
Choose the evaluation scale that works best for your company, whether that’s a simple thumbs-based rating or a numeric scale. Once set, this scale will automatically apply across Tellent Recruitee.
Let’s show you how to set it up.
Set up your evaluation scale
Choose the scale your team will use for evaluation forms and quick evaluations, and decide how average scores should be displayed.
Tip: Changing your scale is completely safe and won’t delete past work, but existing candidate scores will be adjusted to the new scale.
Before making this switch, it’s a good idea to inform the hiring team so everyone understands the change. See: Good to know
1. Go to Settings > Workflow > Candidate evaluation.
2. Click Edit next to Evaluation scale.
3. In the modal that appears, click the Scale dropdown to choose between Default (thumb ratings) or Custom (numbered scale).
4. Click the Scale length dropdown to select your preferred range:
If using the Default scale, choose a thumbs-based rating with 4 or 5 options.
If using a Custom scale, choose a maximum range between 3 and 10.
5. (Custom scale) Under Preview, you can create your own labels for the scale. For example, you can label the lowest score (1) as “Poor” and the highest score (10) as “Excellent.”
6. Under Show average score as, choose how you want average scores to appear:
Percentage (e.g., 45%)
Number (e.g., 4.5)
Once you save your selected scale, it will automatically update all evaluation forms, candidate profiles, pipelines, lists, boards, reports, and search filters.
Good to know
When you update the evaluation scale, your past candidate evaluations stay the same. Changing the scale only affects how those scores are displayed and how your team might interpret them.
For example, if you switch from thumbs-based ratings to a numbered scale, a candidate who was rated with a thumbs-up will now show an equivalent number on the new scale.
Similarly, if you use a 10-point scale and change from showing average scores as percentages to numbers, a 45% score will now display as 4.5.
Keep in mind:
Existing evaluation scores are automatically adjusted to the new scale. The underlying rating remains the same.
Score interpretation may change. The same evaluation may look different when presented in a new scale or average-score format.
New evaluations will use the updated scale. Your evaluation forms and quick evaluations will automatically use the new scale going forward.
