Evaluate candidates

Score candidates using structured evaluation forms or quick evaluations.

Better hiring decisions start with structured feedback. Use evaluations to share your feedback about candidates after screening or interviewing them.

Candidates get scores based on evaluations from you and your team.

Note: Evaluation forms are available on the Advance and Optimize plans. If you’re on the Start plan, you can use Quick Evaluations instead.

Add a quick evaluation

Use quick evaluations to leave short and straightforward feedback, for example, after an initial screening.

1. Go to the candidate’s profile and select the Evaluation tab.

2. Click the Evaluate button.

3. In the selection prompt, click Quick evaluation.

4. Choose your rating under the Evaluation score. Depending on your company settings, this will display as either a thumbs-based rating or a numbered scale (an administrator can customize this).

5. (Optional) Type your feedback in the Add comment box. You can use the toolbar to format your text.

6. Click Add evaluation.

The quick evaluation will be added to the candidate profile, and your rating will count toward the candidate’s average evaluation score.

You can use the pencil and trash icons in the top-right of the submitted evaluation to edit or delete it if needed.

Fill in an evaluation form

Use a structured evaluation form to fill out detailed criteria after an interview.

1. Go to the candidate’s profile and select the Evaluation tab.

2. Click the Evaluate button.

3. In the selection prompt, click Evaluation form and select the appropriate form for the interview stage.

Note: A team member may also request you to evaluate a candidate. If requested, you can access the form directly from your notifications or dashboard.

4. The evaluation form will open as a movable window over the candidate’s profile.

Tip: Drag the header to move the form window, or use the controls in the top-right corner to minimize it or expand it to full-page. This allows you to easily review candidate profile details while leaving your feedback.

5. Fill out the criteria in the form.

Note: If an evaluation form contains questions with limited visibility, the answers to these restricted questions will only be visible in the candidate profile to the specific people or roles granted access.

Tip: Hover over a question and click the comment icon to provide extra context or start a discussion with your team. You can use @mentions to tag teammates directly in your comment.

This option is available for all question types except short text, long text, and the overall evaluation score.

6. Click Add evaluation to submit your feedback.

Your completed form will be added to the candidate profile, and your rating will count toward the candidate’s average evaluation score.

You can use the pencil and trash icons in the top-right of the submitted evaluation to edit your answers or delete the form if needed.

How evaluation scores are calculated

Each evaluator gives a final score at the end of an evaluation. When multiple team members evaluate a candidate, their scores are averaged to calculate the candidate’s overall score.

Depending on your company’s settings, the overall score is displayed as either a percentage or a number.

Percentages

If your company evaluations use a 4-point thumbs-based rating, the options map directly to percentage values:

Strong yes: 100%

Yes: 75%

Not sure: 50%

No: 0%

Example: If one interviewer selects Strong yes and another selects Yes, the candidate's overall score will be 88% (100 + 75 /2 = 88).

If your team uses a custom numbered scale (for example, 1–5) but scores are displayed as percentages, the average score is converted to a percentage.

Example: An average score of 4 out of 5 is displayed as 80%.

Numbers

If your team uses a 4-point thumbs-based rating but scores are displayed as numbers, the thumbs are converted into a numerical range.

Example: A mix of Strong yes (5) and Yes (4) feedback will display on the profile as 4.5/5.

With a numbered scale, scores are averaged directly.

Example: If one interviewer gives a 4 and another gives a 5, the candidate’s profile will display 4.5/5.

Evaluation summary

Once team members begin submitting their feedback, a comprehensive evaluation summary becomes available on the candidate’s profile.

The summary brings together all scores, forms, and notes in one place, making it easy for hiring managers to review the collective sentiment at a glance.

Review feedback

  • AI insights: If your company uses this feature, an AI-written summary sits at the top to give you a quick look at the candidate’s strengths, areas for improvement, and suggested discussion topics for your team.

  • Score breakdown: View the overall average score alongside a visual breakdown of each interviewer’s rating.

  • Skill match: If your company uses scorecards to grade specific skills, you will see a breakdown showing whether the candidate meets, exceeds, or falls below the required level.

  • Two ways to read feedback: You can change how you view the team’s answers by clicking the options in the top-right corner:

    • By question: See how everyone answered the same interview question side-by-side, complete with simple charts.

    • By team member: Read through one interviewer’s full evaluation from start to finish.

  • Expandable answers: Click on individual evaluation forms or dropdown sections to expand full detail answers or collapse them to keep your view clean.

Share a direct link to a comment

You can link directly to a specific comment in the evaluation summary. This makes it easy to guide your team straight to a piece of feedback.

1. Hover your mouse over the comment you want to share.

2. Click the Copy link button.

3. Paste the link into an email, team chat, or the Notes section on the candidate profile to send your teammates directly to that exact comment.
