WhatsApp Hiring (formerly FunnelBridge) allows you to communicate with applicants through WhatsApp directly within Tellent Recruitee while meeting General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules.
It’s different from regular WhatsApp chats between two smartphones, particularly regarding adherence to the GDPR and overall data security.
Traditional WhatsApp use vs. WhatsApp Hiring (formerly FunnelBridge)
In the traditional scenario, messages are exchanged directly between two devices using the standard WhatsApp app or the WhatsApp Business app.
FunnelBridge facilitates communication from Tellent Recruitee to the candidate’s device through the official WhatsApp Cloud API, provided by Meta. In this arrangement, Meta serves as a data processor on behalf of FunnelBridge.
Data protection measures by Meta for the WhatsApp API
Meta has implemented several measures to ensure that the WhatsApp API endpoint operates in compliance with GDPR. The key measures include:
The server location can be selected within the EU.
Messages are only stored temporarily for technical transmission purposes.
Messages are deleted immediately after they are successfully delivered.
In the event of undeliverability, messages will be stored for a maximum of 30 days.
There is no personalized advertising based on message content.
Meta employees never have access to the content of messages.
